End of May Fishing Report

First of all, please note the Fishery is closed on Friday 13th June (for one day only).

Fishing has been a little harder this past week as strong winds have made presentation very difficult at times. Catches have been down as a result, but should pick right back up again based on the forecast.

Ross has been the best performing lake of the week, especially around the neck of the bay.

On Friday, we had a lot of salmon anglers fishing. If the River Tweed is not fishable, Chatton is a great Plan B. Among them, a group of 5 supposed to fish The Lees had a magical day here instead. Norman Taylor was top rod in their mini comp catching 7 on an indicator in the middle of the day. Well done lads and great to have you along.

Zack Scott had another great visit, catching 14 on nymphs, including a big brownie. Most of his fish came off Ross Lake. Brilliant once again Zack. Pete and Rob Frame shared 16 for their regular Saturday session catching on top hats and olive flies under the indicator.

Wednesday Night Club is getting really popular now. We had 19 this week for a laid back, friendly night’s fishing that offers great value for money. (See Noticeboard below for full details).

Flies on the catch return sheet this week have been a proper mish-mash as expected. Any method and pattern have had their moment with lures out-fishing naturals some days and dries best the day after. Depth is variable as the fish drop deeper when the sun is out. Sinking lines are still a good option, especially in the middle of the day.

From Wednesday evening, the forecast looks a pearler for the rest of the week as winds drop to more presentation friendly 10-12mph. Overheads look brilliant overall as well, so dry flies should be fully back on the menu.

CLOSED FOR ONE DAY ON 13th June!

The entire fishery will be closed for one day on Friday, 13th June. We have a wedding over the whole site. Please can you let anyone know who isn’t on Facebook or may not look at the website – just in case they end up on the dancefloor instead of Dunnydeer!
