It is with great sadness and shock that we lost one of our most popular anglers last Wednesday. Colin Spillard was a good friend of many at the fishery and will be sorely missed. Many of you will have known him and have a high opinion of a great fella.
He was one of the original Codgers and fished the most recent gathering the day before he died, with his usual good humour. Colin was a lovely, lovely man, a fan of terrible jokes and a friend to anyone who knew him. We will all miss him very much.

FISHING REPORT
For the time of year, we’re not fishing too badly to be fair. It is not April/May or Sept/Oct, but we’ll take this fishing for the middle of July.
We’ve had a couple of double figure catches, a few big fish caught and many steady away days of 3 to 6 fish. Particularly well done to Simon Whitehouse (11) and Ray Hill (10) who used different tactics for their days. Simon catching on the surface and Ray down below. It is so sad to see Colins’ name on the weekly sheets such a short time before he died. 4 fish on a FAB was his final session in warm conditions. Well done Colin.
Early and late are always going to be best and if you can take advantage of our late closing time (11pm), you’ll certainly do better than the middle of the day when the sun is highest. Thats was Simons tactics as his 6hr ticket started at 5pm. Very sensible.
As usual, find the deeper, cooler water and go deep through the day, and change to small dries and lighter tackle towards dark. Size 18/20 Top Hats and F-Flies, Kilnkhammers, Griffiths Gnats, Beetles and Shipmans in the same sizes will be your best chance right on dark. Bigger may also work.

Winds supposedly to be from the W/NW for the foreseeable future. Light to medium in strength. Nothing excessive in temperature either considering it is July. Generally 18-20 degrees. Plenty cloud, but also plenty of sunshine.
First Cast – 8.30am.
Last Cast – 11.00pm every day. Except Saturday, which is always 5.00pm.
