About Us

Located half a mile east of Chatton village in Northumberland, Chatton Trout Fishery is an established fishery that has gained a national reputation for excellence in trout fly fishing.

Established in 2007, the fishery is owned and run by David and Gemma Woods who strive to provide the highest quality trout fly fishing in a relaxed, peaceful and friendly surrounding. There are three fly fishing lakes each around 3 acres in size – Chatton, Ross and Dunnydeer – as well as a recently developed bait lake – Reddis. The fishery is open throughout the year from 08.30 with seasonal opening hours.

The lakes are regularly stocked from local fish farms with hard-fighting rainbow, blue, brown and tiger trout up to 10lb in size.

The fishery is popular among anglers not just from the north-east region but also from north of the border. The fishery has also grown in popularity with many angling clubs who return year after year.

When You Are Here

Onsite at the fishery you will find everything you need for an enjoyable and relaxing day’s fishing at your fingertips.

The purpose-built lodge adjacent to Chatton Lake provides a great social hub for our visiting anglers. It incorporates a range of facilities including complimentary tea and coffee, accessible toilets, sale of flies and terminal tackle, and a seating area with a wood burning stove to keep you warm on those colder winter days. In front of the lodge is a large patio terrace with several picnic benches, some of which are covered to provide some respite from the summer sun (and rain!)  To the rear of the lodge there is ample car parking.

The lodge also offers a wide selection of snacks and cold drinks for sale. You are very welcome of course to bring your own food and join in the friendly conversation with other anglers and our staff.

At all times there is friendly onsite advice on hand so you know what to expect when you visit us!
