Fishing well. Romance in the air.
With the miserable weather, it has been nice to see the rod average go up for the few brave souls who fished this week.
The east wind has made life uncomfortable for the bulk of the week but the fish haven’t been bothered with a great rod average of 5.33. Top honours are shared this week with Brian Scrowther and John Pringle landing 11 trout each. Both catches were on Zonkers and Bunny Leeches. Superb angling lads. John took his week’s total to 18 using buzzers and shammies during his other session.
Robbie Bell might not have finished top this week but still got on the podium with 8 fish – also on Zonkers. Mr. Consistent strikes again.
We also had a visit from Ashington’s very own Romeo & Juliet on Saturday. Apparently a day’s fishing is now a Valentine present. Who says romance is dead?
Along similar lines, if you are interested in using Chatton Lakes as a wedding venue, we now have an Instagram page for the purpose. Scroll down to ‘Noticeboard’ below and please give the page a follow. Last year’s wedding went so well and caused very little impact on the fishing, so if you know anyone getting married we’d really appreciate you pointing them to the page.
Finally, we are less than a month from our first heats of The Big One on the 15th and 29th March. A few places remain if you would like to enter. The competition is open to anyone and the prizes are absolutely outstanding. Link in Noticeboard below.
